Never fry a frozen turkey! That is the best advice I can provide this month. My father-in-law made a fried turkey for my husband to take to the Nacogdoches Kroger employee celebration back in 1991. He had gotten the recipe from some business friends in Louisiana. The Kroger GM tasted it and yelled, “WHAT IS THIS AND WHO MADE IT?!?!” After a quick conversation with my husband, he found out everything necessary to make a fried turkey. Within one hour, that Kroger had end caps with everything everyone in Nacogdoches would need to make a fried turkey. Talk about a quick GO TO MARKET plan!!!!!! Families all over Nacogdoches changed their traditions that year and the oven turkey went by the wayside for many, and fried turkeys were being made all over that town. What is your favorite quick turn-around story?
