General Manager - Wholesaler/Distribution San Antonio

We are seeking an experienced, engaging leader to join our client--a small, yet rapidly growing wholesale and distribution company, as their General Manager (GM).  This position will be responsible for all the daily business, sales, marketing, inventory/logistics, finance, operations, and continued company growth.  Our client is focused on providing high quality circular saw blades and various parts to major hardware retailers, has a great growing team; and now, this client needs a GM to lead them to the next level.  Are you the detailed and results-oriented relationship-building GM leader that our client needs?  If so, apply today.  Our client is ready to hire the right professional now!

Responsibilities:

  • Sales
    • Responsible for sales, service and systems across all product lines, including achieving reasonable sales goals to promote growth
    • Includes account management for existing clients
    • Staff and train inside sales professionals as needed
  • Marketing
    • Strategically lead the development and deployment of various tactics designed to promote the business such as promotional flyers and a new website
    • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices
    • Attend selected tradeshows, if required
  • Employees
    • Recruit, hire and onboard new employees
    • Provide staff coaching and development and promotion opportunities; enforce company policies and procedures
    • Conduct performance reviews and address employees’ concerns
    • Manage and develop the manufacturing team, fostering a positive and productive work environment
    • Review and update as needed employee benefits, bonus and insurance
  • Shipping
    • Review shipping process and teams; regularly look for process improvement opportunities
    • Implement strategies to optimize shipping efficiency
  • Purchasing/Warehouse/Inventory
    • Manage the purchasing cycle within budget requirements
    • Manage warehouse staff and promote a safe work environment
    • Enhance and develop purchase order tracking, using Sage purchase program
  • Product Management
    • Oversee all aspects of product management, including planning, scheduling, and inventory management
    • Evaluate product offerings to ensure required product turnover is achieved.
    • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and industry standards

MUST HAVE WITHOUT EXCEPTION:

  1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a strong, multi-responsibilities leadership role for a construction, industrial, mechanical wholesaler or distributor work environment
  2. Multiple years of experience with success in optimizing business and marketing processes, reducing costs, and improving quality
  3. Minimum of 5 years of experience hiring, training and managing staff
  4. Experience working in a small company environment
  5. Experience with budget management and financial processes
  6. Strong industrial and commercial background supported by entrepreneurial experience/mindset
  7. Must have hands on problem-solving experience

Preferred but not required:

  • Experience working with overseas suppliers
  • Knowledge of saw blades and mechanical parts
