Brookwoods Group is conducting a search for a self-starter, experienced, results and detailed-oriented Real Estate Lawyer to join their team and provide expert legal advice on real estate transactions. ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Real Estate Lawyer will play a crucial role in safeguarding the legal interests of the company and its clients throughout all phases of real estate transactions. This includes drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, conducting thorough due diligence, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The lawyer will also provide strategic counsel on property acquisitions, dispositions, leasing agreements, and financing deals, while mitigating potential risks. Additionally, they will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, offering legal insights to drive successful project outcomes and resolve disputes efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with builders, subcontractors, and other third-party vendors involved in real estate development projects.
Develop and review partnership agreements with stakeholders, investors, and joint ventures.
Prepare and manage Private Placement Memoranda (PPM) for real estate investment opportunities.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and contracts affecting real estate development and construction.
Provide legal advice on risk management strategies, contract enforcement, and dispute resolution.
Collaborate with internal teams, including project management, finance, and business development, to support ongoing real estate development projects.
Conduct legal research and stay informed of industry changes and evolving laws that impact the real estate sector.
Liaise with external legal consultants as needed for complex transactions or specialized legal issues.
MUST HAVE WITHOUT EXCEPTION:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in real estate law, with a focus on contracts, partnership agreements, and real estate transactions
Must have experience working with builders, contractors, and in-depth knowledge of real estate development processes
Must have excellent negotiation, communication and legal drafting skills
Must have ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Must have the ability to mitigate legal risk
Preferred but not required:
Experience working with real estate developers or investment firms
Familiarity with zoning laws, construction-related legal issues, and joint ventures
Experience with real estate financing and private equity transactions
