Summer is almost officially over and we’re moving into fall. Granted the temps are still nearing 100° daily in Houston, but we’re still excited that our version of fall is approaching. We’ll go from whatever green didn’t burn off from the squelching heat waves over summer to light, medium, and dark shades of brown. No yellow, orange, or reds to welcome us into the new season, just a quick jaunt from 100° to 87°. Houstonians don’t need all that grandeur, we just go about our business as the east coast sees transformations and colors we’ve seen only in Hallmark movies. Granted, our winters are enjoyable outdoors while northeasterners are digging out from snowmageddens on an annual basis, but it would be nice to see some of those beautiful colors. Perhaps a fall trip is in order!
September is National Preparedness Month. In Houston, we are familiar with being prepared. For anything! Whether it be getting the kids back to school, preparing for a weather event, or doing meal prep for the week on a Sunday afternoon. Preparedness is something we all should strive for so we are not caught in a bind when things are going awry. This site will give you some keen ideas to help you overcome your procrastination and once and for all throw away all your “round tuits”. https://www.ready.gov/september
This is also food safety month … food! Delicious food! We all eat. We all need sustenance. We all need to eat clean, healthy meals. We don’t always do so! September is National Food Safety Education Month. This website can spell out all the ways you can manage food risks, and there are many! https://www.foodsafetyfocus.com/
