Mechanical Engineer - Associate

Brookwoods Group is working with a large refinery to place a Mechanical Engineer, Associate level.  Our client is part of a fully integrated oil company.

The Associate Mechanical Engineer will work closely with the production team, central engineering, maintenance and turnaround, project engineers, and third-party vendors.  You will be the first point of contact for most mechanical systems in their respective production areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Operation Support
    • Solve Day-to-Day problems
    • Production Team meetings
    • Field Walkthroughs
    • Support during stabilization and recovery from operational upsets
  • Critical Work Process
    • Manage Threats and Opportunities (MTO)
    • Management of Change (MOC)
    • Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)
    • Maintenance Execution (ME)
    • Process Safety Compliance
  • Technical Delivery
    • Leverage technical acumen to outline details scope of changes to mechanical equipment
    • Assess health of Mechanical Equipment
  • Problem Solving
    • Work closely with production team
    • Perform investigations on failures related to mechanical equipment
    • Root cause analysis - prevent recurrence
    • Opportunities to reduce waste in work processes using LEAN and other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Turnaround Support
    • Support work scope
    • Coordinate mechanical equipment
    • Participate in production unit pre-startup

MUST HAVE WITHOUT EXCEPTION:

  1. Must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred)
  2. Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a related manufacturing industry
  3. Must have experience and knowledge of reliability concepts, and strong understanding of engineering and maintenance processes.
  4. Must have excellent troubleshooting, analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Must have the ability to work with a diverse background of people at all levels of the organization and be prepared to demonstrate your skills working with teams to achieve goals.

Preferred but not required:

  • Prior experience in refining or petrochemical manufacturing complex
  • Prior experience in support of general-purpose static and/or rotating equipment.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards related to static and rotating equipment.
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP)
