Brookwoods Group is working with a refinery in Deer Park to find a Mechanical Engineer, Staff level. Our client provides an inclusive work environment and employs approximately 1000 employees with another 1200 contractors on site.
They are adding to their engineering staff and need someone with rotating equipment experience, who has worked at a refinery and understands the Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Piping Systems, Valves, Relief Devices and Bolted Joint integrity.
You will work closely with the Production Team, Central Engineering, Maintenance and Turnarounds, Project Engineering and third-party vendors to ensure the rotating equipment is working properly, safely, and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Operations Support:
- Work with Operations and Maintenance to solve day-to-day problems
- Participate in production meetings
- Routine field walkthroughs with operations and maintenance
- Recovery from operational upsets
- Critical Work Processes:
- Manage Threat and Opportunities (MTO)
- Managment of Change (MOC)
- Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)
- Maintenance Execution (ME)
- Process Safety Compliance
- Technical Delivery:
- Leverage experience and skills to outline scope of changes to mechanical equipment
- Assess the health of Mechanical Equipment
- Problem Solving:
- Champion reasoning within the area production team
- Perform investigations on failures related to mechanical equipment
- Root cause analysis of failures
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste in work processes
- Business Planning:
- Participate in delivery of multi-year major maintenance plan for production area
- Ensure mechanical equipment improvements are identified, prioritized, adequately funded, and suitably categorized
- Project Management:
- Provide updates on current project statuses and upcoming work scopes
- Challenge self and production team to assess that work is executed by the right team in the organization
- Turnaround support:
- Support work scope development and field execution for mechanical equipment
- Coordinate mechanical equipment surveillance
- Participate in production unit pre-startup safety reviews and commissioning activities
MUST HAVE WITHOUT EXCEPTION:
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical engineering strongly preferred)
- Must have a minimum of 6 years’ experience in a related manufacturing industry
- Must have proven experience with maintenance and reliability concepts, including a sound understanding of engineering and maintenance processes. Knowledge of the concepts of risk assessment, Reliability Centered Maintenance, Management of Change, and structured problem solving.
- Must have excellent Troubleshooting, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to interface with personnel from diverse backgrounds at all levels of the organization. Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
- Must have demonstrated skills in working with teams to achieve a common goal.
Preferred but not required:
- Prior experience in refining or petrochemical manufacturing complex.
- Prior experience in support of general-purpose static and / or rotating equipment
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards related to static and/or rotating equipment and their practical application within the refining and petrochemical industries
- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP)
