Reliability and Mechanical Engineering Manager

Brookwoods Group is partnering with a Large Oil and Gas Refining company to find a dedicated and experienced Reliability and Mechanical Engineering Manager. This role involves responsibility, accountability, and authority to:

  • Enhance reliability for optimal unit availability and capability at minimal cost.
  • Oversee MTO Risk Assessment Methodology for proper work prioritization.
  • Develop and lead Reliability, MEC/RCM Focal Points, Mechanical Engineer, and Rotating Equipment Teams.
  • Supervise the MTO work process, ensuring robust documentation and delivery.
  • Optimize maintenance activities through MEC/RCM work processes.
  • Execute the Site Reliability Improvement Plan and Rotating Equipment Improvement Plan.
  • Provide technical support for rotating equipment (e.g., pumps, fans, blowers).
  • Maintain and uphold inspection standards for rotating equipment in line with legal and company requirements.
  • Assure technical monitoring and mitigation plans for rotating equipment.
  • Manage an annual departmental budget of ~$15M.
  • Lead and develop a team of Reliability Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and Inspectors.

Must have without exception:

  1. Must have a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  2. Must have 20+ years of experience in refining and/or petrochemical environments.
  3. Must have prior line management experience.
  4. Must have knowledge of Reliability, PEI, and Rotating Equipment Engineering principles.
  5. Must have the ability to balance short-term and longer-term reliability threats.
  6. Must have strong communication, listening, and problem-solving skills.
  7. Must have experience managing and controlling reliability budgets and strategies.
  8. Must have the ability to develop open, honest relationships with workforce.

Key Challenges:

  • Delivering reliable improvement plans within cost constraints.
  • Balancing resources for RCM/MEC schedules.
  • Aligning rotating equipment disciplines with maintenance and project organizations.
  • Managing interfaces across organizations to ensure effective engineering support.

Details:

  1. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US without employer assistance
  2. The role is Hybrid - 2 - 3 days per week onsite and onsite for important meetings
  3. The position is in Deer Park, TX.  local candidates only, there is NO relocation assistance
  4. Drug screening will be required prior to and potentially RDT during employment
  5. Base compensation is dependent on year of experience; package includes bonus potential and benefit
